Viridor driver killed in hospital collision

An investigation is underway into the death of a Viridor driver who died when his vehicle ploughed into the wall of a hospital.

Devon and Cornwall Police said no other vehicles or people were believed to have been involved.

The deceased man is believed to be 57 years old and his next-of-kin have been informed.

Viridor said in a statement: “The company is working closely with the authorities and a full investigation is underway. Our deepest sympathies are with the driver’s family, friends and colleagues.”

The Health and Safety Executive has been informed.
