Viridor wins £700m contract

Viridor has been appointed preferred bidder for the £700m Clyde Valley residual waste project by a partnership of East Dunbartonshire, East Renfrewshire, North Ayrshire, North Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire councils.

The contract is expected to be worth around £700m during a 25-year term.

Viridor is to design, construct, finance and operate the facilities to treat approximately 190,000 tonnes of residual waste a year.

Chief executive Ian McAulay (pictured) said: We look forward to working towards financial close, and to helping deliver their sustainability, zero waste and community benefit objectives.”
