Viridor has secured a five-year contract to process waste and recycling for three NHS Trusts in Devon.
The company will collect residual waste and recycle plastic, paper and cardboard, tins, food waste, glass, green waste, wood and construction materials across 60 NHS sites.
These sites include Southern Devon Health and Care NHS Trust, South Devon Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust.
The contract commences on 1 February.
Peter Schofield, environmental services manager at South Devon Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We are looking forward to working with Viridor who have already demonstrated potential mechanisms for increasing the amount of waste that the trusts can recycle and I am confident they will deliver enhanced performance and value for money throughout the life of the contract.”
Mark Woods, regional director at Viridor, said: “We are delighted to be awarded this contract. Our depots in Plymouth, Newton Abbot, Barnstaple and Taunton will all be working to support this partnership and ensure the three Devon NHS Trusts receive an efficient and cost effective service.”
