Waste experts named in Birthday Honours

Leading figures in the waste and recycling industry have been recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list.

Colin Drummond, chief executive of Viridor Waste has been awarded on OBE for services to technology and innovation.

Drummond is also chairman of the government’s Living with Environmental Change Business Advisory Board, of the Environmental Sustainability Knowledge Transfer Network, and of UKTI’s Water and Environmental Sector Advisory Group.

Nina Sweet

Nina Sweet, organics sector specialist at the Waste and Resources Action Programme, left, has also been recognised with an OBE for services to the waste industry.

John Galvin, waste regulation and crime team leader at the DEFRA, has been appointed an MBE for services to the environment.

Anthony Cleland, a streetsweeper from Veolia Environmental Services, was also recognised with a British Empire Medal.
