Wasting away

Every year Brits waste £424 each on food, according to the Prudentials Soggy Lettuce Report. The financial services group undertook a study earlier this year to assess whether the British were a nation of wasters. It found that not only did the average person waste £1,725 per year on food, luxury items, entertainment, travel, gadgets and hobbies, but that 61% throw out a bag of lettuce each week, 60% throw out a loaf of bread, 57% fruit, 45% a pint of milk and 43% cooked meat.
