We want your green glass, say firm

It has become a bit of myth in the recycling industry that it is virtually impossible to get rid of green glass.

But one company cannot get enough of the stuff. Berryman is calling for more green glass as it has extra capacity to recycle it.

Berryman general manager Mick Keogh said: "One of our biggest customers is one of the big users of green glass in the UK and we also have a healthy export market to mainly Mediterranean countries.

"Anyone struggling with what to do with green glass should get in touch with us and we can see if we can do a deal with them."

Organisations such as the Waste and Resources Action Programme are looking to expand markets for recycled green glass in the UK including uses for golf course sand in bunkers.

But Berryman exports quite a lot of the green glass it receives and sends it back to wine-producing countries to be recycled back into wine bottles.
