Website helps divert building waste from landfill

A soon to be launched website, www.tradeleftovers.com, will help divert left over building materials from skips and landfill.

The free to use site has been set up by Checkatrade.com and matches unwanted building materials with traders in need.

Company managing director Kevin Byrne explained: This easy to use website will allow tradespersons to post materials they do not have a use for and also to place requests for materials they need.

Information updates will be sent out by automatic emails so traders will know whats available.

Due to be launched at the beginning of June, the site was inspired by a scenario that will be familiar to all contractors: at the end of a job the contractor is often asked: What shall we do with the left over materials? Often the reply is: "Skip it!"
