Valpaks website recycle-more.co.uk has launched a section dedicated to waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE). It aims to provide consumer WEEE recycling information for the Valpak Distributor Take Back Scheme (DTS), which recycles WEEE according to the Directive which came into force on July 1. Visitors to the site can type in their postcode to find their nearest recycling bank or designated collection point. Valpak chief executive Steve Gough said: We are very proud of the service that recycle-more offers, and I think this is reflected through consumer interest in the website rocketing from 2.5 million visits in 2006 to two million in the first seven months of this year. Expanding the expertise on recycle-more to include the recycling of WEEE has already generated a large amount of public interest, and is an important step in aiding local authorities to increase recycling targets. In the UK the amount of electrical waste we create in one year would fill the new Wembley six times. We are eager to convey this message to consumers, and provide relevant recycling information to encourage everyone to recycle more.
