WEEEConnect, an advert consortium to communicate the waste electrical recycling message, has smashed through the £50,000 fundraising mark with just days to go until it reaches its deadline.
The new total of around £54,000 is £24,000 above its original target of £32,000. More than 15 million people are expected to view the television advert which will be aired at the end of the year.
There are just three days left for any additional funds to be made towards the advertising campaign, which is a first in Europe.
Waste electrical and electronic equipment recycler SWEEEP Kuusakoski contracts manager Justin Greenaway said: “Last week saw us bust through the £50K broadcast budget landmark. This is a staggering achievement and a credit to the 61 different WEEE stakeholders who have thus far co-funded the broadcast.
“Mid-October will see all contributors invited to a WEEE TV advert stakeholders meeting with the final advertising slots purchased at the end of October.”
New co-funders Universal Recycling, Electrocycle and Wiser pushed the fund past the £50,000 marker.
Greenaway is urging companies who want to get involved to do so before Friday.
