Wish You Were Recycling Here

Ever wondered what to do with unwanted and obsolete hard hats? Why not turn them into a contemporary hanging basket display?

That is exactly what one entrant in the Aylesford Newsprint Wish You Were Recycling Here photographic competition has done.

The competition is now in its second year and once again is offering amateur photographers the chance to win £1,000 in travel vouchers.

With two runners up also scooping £500 each, it is well worth sending in snaps that depict recycling activities that fall into three categories- good, bad and ugly.

Shots can be taken both at home and abroad.

Aylesford Newsprint area manager Karen Newell said: “There’s no need to limit your photographic opportunities to high days and holidays- simply take your camera wherever you go and provide us with real, gritty recycling evidence. If its good- we want to know about it. If its bad- we should know about it. And if its ugly- we (the recycling industry) ought to be doing something about it.”

The last date for competition entries is 31 August 2006 and photographs will be judged by a panel of industry representatives with the winners announced at RWM 2006.

All pictures should be marked with the name and address of the entrant as well as the category it is to be entered in, where it was taken, the date and a brief description of what was seen.

Entries can be emailed to or posted to Aylesford Newsprint, Recycling Department, Newsprint House, Bellingham Way, Aylesford, Kent ME20 7DL.
