Worker dies at Dublin recycling facility

A 41-year-old man has died at a recycling plant in Dublin.

The worker was crushed by a forklift while working at the Greenstar recycling plant in Ballymount on 7 September.

The Irish police force, Gardai, attended the scene of the incident. A spokesperon said four or five people attended to the injured man at the scene.

His body was taken to Tallaght Hospital where a full post mortem will take place.

An investigation into the incident has been handed over to the Health and Safety Authority.

A Greenstar spokesperson said operations were immediately suspended at the facility and a full internal investigation has also been launched into the incident.

He added: “Greenstar is co-operating fully with the Gardai and Health and Safety Authority investigations. The company expresses its sincere condolences to the deceased’s family.”
