Waste Recycling Group has won the contract to manage two household waste and recycling centres and a waste transfer station for Neath Port Talbot council.
The council awarded the £10.5m, six-year contract, with possible two-year extension, to run from April 2012.
The announcement brings to 84 the number of HWRCs the waste management firm operates on behalf of 17 local authorities.
WRG’s group commercial manager Gordon Fergus said the company has secured new
business from three local councils in the past six months.
He said: “Cost effectiveness is important but it’s clear that quality services and a flexible response to new regulations and recycling markets are proving equally compelling for our clients as part of the tendering process.
“Our ability to exceed targeted recycling rates and environmental performance standards, and sustain high rates of customer satisfaction, will be key to helping the business develop further new business opportunities.”
WRG is owned by FCC, a Spanish infrastructure, environment and energy group.
