W&S propose MRF and relocation

W&S Recycling will submit a planning application for a £10 million MRF next month, which would also see the business relocate its Poole headquarters.

The facility is proposed for part of the former BK Bluebird site at Ling Road on the Mannings Heath Industrial Estate, Poole. W&S Recycling would move its current headquarters on the Nuffield Industrial Estate, to the new site.

The company, which provides waste management services to Dorset County Council, Bournemouth Borough Council and Oxfordshire County Council, said the proposals transform the firm into a “21st century waste management company”.

The facility on the 12.3 acre site would initially handle 25,000 tonnes per year, increasing to around 50,000 tonnes after six months, with an ultimate capacity of up to 100,000 tonnes, the company said.

Thirty six staff would relocate with a further 50 jobs created.

The planning application will be determined by the Borough of Poole council. The start of construction is anticipated for spring next year, with the facility becoming operational in August.
