IVC plant processes 60,000 tonnes a year

Building and civil engineering contractor Britcon has completed a £2.6m contract to deliver an in-vessel composting facility near Hull.

It managed the design and build, acting as principal contractor for the £4.5m project for East Riding-based recycling company Biowise.

The facility will process more than 60,000 tonnes a year of garden and food waste from 263,000 households.

The plant utilises Dutch Gicom technology to convert organic waste into quality compost for use in horticulture and agriculture.
