Joint design of rigid RCV

Midlands-based Wastecycle has expanded its fleet of waste collection vehicles.

This includes a Mercedes-Benz Arocs 3236 L 8x2 Rigid, one of the first of its kind in the UK. It was designed through collaborative work between Wastecycle and local Mercedes Benz dealer Mertrux.

Paul Clements, commercial director of Wastecycle, says: “It has taken almost a year to arrive at this new model and secure approval from the Department of Transport, but it has been worth the investment.”

The vehicle has a number of extra safety features to those found on existing models, including a cyclist radar warning system, rear camera, image-enhancing mirrors, high-density strobe lights, a left turning warning signal and increased cab height for better driver visibility. An auto-lowering rear suspension system contributes to operational stability and safety.

A new type of roof deflector has also been specially designed for the cab, the engine automatically shuts off after two minutes of the vehicle being stationery, and the vehicle has a single reduction rear axle.
