Kit: Hyundai midi excavator

Hyundai Heavy Industries Europe has launched the R60CR-9A Midi Excavator, which it says is a new benchmark for productivity, fuel efficiency, enhanced controllability and high operator comfort.

Q: What is your product?

Hyundai Heavy Industries Europe has just launched a midi excavator in the six tonne weight range (operating weight 5.900kg’s).

Q: Where would it ideally be used?

The machine is perfect for working in tight spaces where manoeuvrability is a problem, particularly in urban areas.

Q: How is it different?

The new R60CR-9A short tail swing (STS) model replaces the previous R60CR-9 and is more fuel and energy efficient.

Q: What benefits does it offer?

The R60CR-9A’s advanced hydraulic system includes optimised matching between the joystick and main control valve, which improves fine control and smoothness of operation.  An arm flow summation system provides energy savings, reduced cavitation and increased speed. To improve safety and avoid boom drift the R60CR-9A is equipped with an integrated boom holding system.

The R60CR-9A’s boom swing function is designed for efficient work in congested residential and urban areas. The boom can be offset left or right within an operating range. Plus, increased swing torque provides enhanced operating capability when working on a slope.

The R60CR-9A’s short tail swing radius allows the operator to work in confined areas such as close to buildings on roadways, and in urban areas. This compact radius design provides easy and efficient operation in any limited space working environment.

Q: Where has it been used?

It will be sold through the Hyundai’s nine UK dealerships. Companies who would buy this machine would include plant hirers, contractors and owner operators.

Q: Any savings?

The R60CR-9A is powered by the fuel efficient, Stage IIIB certified Yanmar 4TNV98C engine which provides proven, reliable power. This engine is electronically controlled for optimum fuel to air ratio and clean, efficient combustion and provides low noise, anti-restart features.

The Yanmar 4TNV98C  Tier 4 final / Stage IIIB compliant diesel engine provides 48.3 kW of power,  a maximum torque of 24 kgf.m (kilogram force metre) and offers a 10% increase in power over the previous model. The new excavator offers higher fuel efficiency with a 14% reduction in fuel consumption.

Q: What about maintenance?

The R60CR-9A is designed to maximise profitability through improved efficiencies, enhanced service features and longer life components.

It is equipped with a durable plastic air cleaner designed for easy maintenance. A newly designed full-open type engine hood makes service more convenient and the boom cylinder and dozer cylinder cover provides added protection on the tough working condition.  Finally the R60CR-9A has a tiltable cabin, which ensures easy access to maintain the machine.

Hyundai offers 24 hours parts availability.

Q: What is its life span?

Hyundai machines have a full standard warranty of two years/ 3000 hours.  The machine’s entire life span will depend on usage and maintenance but it can be as long as 25-years.

Q: How is it future-proofed?

Hyundai is always developing new machines with new features and safety additions. So ‘Future Proofing’ for Hyundai is investment in R&D.

Q: How many have you sold and where?

It’s a brand new machine to the UK so is only just being delivered to dealers.

Q: Anything else?

Overall, the new R60CR-9A Midi Excavator is a new benchmark for productivity, fuel efficiency, enhanced controllability and high operator comfort, together with improved reliability, durability and reduced maintenance costs.
