AD trio open soon in Northern Ireland

German biogas specialist Weltec Biopower is building three 500kW anaerobic digestion plants in Northern Ireland. Two are being set up in County Antrim and one County Tyrone, and all three will go live in the summer.

Weltec engineers have developed an individual concept for each plant because the substrate composition and retention times vary. For example, one plant in County Antrim will have a single 2,625cu m stainless steel digester while the second plant, located nearby, provides for two digesters of a similar capacity.

The plant in County Tyrone will use a slightly larger digester in order to extract as much energy as possible from the substrates.
