Baker controls waste costs

Bakery food on-the-go retailer Greggs can forecast its waste management costs with confidence following an overhaul of its systems by Greenbank.

After a survey of waste processes at its manufacturing sites, one of the major findings was that some of the existing equipment was ageing and starting to become uneconomical to maintain.

To overcome the unpredictability of maintenance costs, a new approach involved Greenbank buying back the recycling equipment and replacing it with the latest models, which are being supplied on a long-term contract rental basis. This offers an ongoing replacement policy for ageing or broken machinery as well as an unlimited maintenance call-out service.
