Boost to value of Londoners' waste

LondonEnergy, which provides waste, recycling and energy recovery services to around 1.9 million north London residents, has invested £3m in the modernisation of its tractor and bespoke trailer units.

The Mercedes-Benz tractor units and bespoke semi-trailers manufactured by Legras (France) will be used to transport material between LondonEnergy’s nine facilities located across the boroughs of Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Hackney, Haringey, Islington and Waltham Forest. This will enable as much material as possible to be recycled, optimising its environmental and commercial value.

Tractor units and semi-trailers are equipped with a forward, near, offside and rear-view camera system as well as an audible warning alarm. The entire fleet also includes Wheel Sentry, an all-in-one solution to the complex problem of loose wheel nuts which makes wheel checks easier while protecting against wheel loss.

Each tractor unit is monitored by Mercedes-Benz through the Up-time programme. This pre-empts any mechanical or technical issues and sends automatic alerts straight to the manufacturer (service agent) and operator.
