Build quality beats competitors

2000 volvo earthline ec220 e

Marlborough, Wiltshire-based Earthline has taken delivery of five more Volvo EC220E excavators due to the reliability, performance and after-sales support it has experienced running such equipment in the past.

Managing director Philip Coplestone said: “When we looked at the 20-tonne excavator market, there was a massive difference in the build quality of the Volvo EC220E compared with the competition.”

Powered by a six-cylinder Volvo engine developing 174 net hp, the EC220E offers the latest in engine technology. For example, pump flow is controlled for combined digging and swinging operations to reduce flow loss through the overload relief valves, while maintaining digging power and maximum swing torque.

When Eco-mode is selected, fuel efficiency is provided without loss of performance in most operating conditions. The cab has a roomy interior with plenty of leg room and foot space. All-round visibility is enhanced by pressurised and filtered air.

The new machines have been deployed across Earthline’s quarries, recycling sites and inert landfill sites.
