JCB has kicked off the year in which it celebrates 40 years of telescopic handler production with a large order from one of the industry’s most prominent users of the machines.
Nixon Hire is buying more than 160 Loadall telescopic handlers worth almost £9m, in the year the company celebrates its 50th birthday. It is a family-run business with 14 depots across the UK and one in Qatar, and its product range includes more than 15,000 items from leading brands.
Delivery of the new fleet – which spans the 4m-reach 516-40 Loadall through to the 17m-reach 540-170 model – will take place in the next few weeks. The machines have been bought through JCB dealer Scot JCB.
UK and Ireland sales director Dan Thompstone said: “This is a momentous year for Loadall telescopic handlers as we mark 40 years of production. We are delighted to start what is a milestone year with a fantastic order from one of our biggest UK customers.”
Nixon Hire has confirmed its acquisition of a site in Nottingham previously owned by Hewden in a multi-million pound deal.
Managing director Graham Nixon said: “Many of the mach- ines as part of the JCB order will stock the Nottingham site. This new depot is in a prime location and falls in line with plans for expanding our depot network further south.”
