City skip loader under trial

As part of an initiative to improve safety for vulnerable road users, Dennis Eagle has launched an urban skip loader vehicle aimed at the construction market.

Due to be trialled by operators as part of Transport for London’s Construction Logistics and Cycle Safety project, the vehicle features the company’s low-entry Elite 6 4x2 chassis fitted with skip loading equipment.

Narrowed ‘A’ and ‘B’ pillars aid peripheral vision to give an unobscured view and prevent traffic disappearing from sight, while panoramic windows give enhanced over-the-shoulder visibility at junctions. The cab is positioned closer to the road, giving drivers a better sense of the vehicle’s proportions and more visibility of cyclists.

The vehicle is also fitted with technologies such as Dawes Highway Safety’s DawesGuard and a four-way CCTV safety system with Cyclear warning display system from Innovative Safety Systems.
