Council opts for all round RCV safety

Sentinel Systems had worked with Inverclyde Council to install a number of 360° camera safety systems on 11 refuse collection vehicles, with the aim of reducing the risks of accidents and improving the safety of drivers and pedestrians.

Sentinel’s system includes visual and rear radar warnings which alert passers-by and cyclists to reversing vehicles and cover any blind spots with visual and audio aids.

The 360° cameras have an inbuilt DVR system, which can capture up to 30 days of footage. The system also comprises side-scanning sensors and cameras that warn members of the public if the vehicle is turning left. It activates when the vehicle is travelling less than 15mph to prevent false alarms.

The reversing radar systems installed at the back use quality UK-made components to provide a reliable service and help mitigate any potential risks.
