Crawlers help to cut fuel consumption

Groundworks and civil engineering company Mackoy, based in Chandlers Ford, Hampshire, is putting four Volvo crawler excavators (EC140E model) to the test.

With an operating weight of 13,170-16,980kg and a bucket capacity of 0.33-1.01cu m, the machines are helping Mackoy drivers to move ground faster than ever before.

The EC140E features include a roomy cab interior. All-round visibility is enhanced by pressurised and filtered cab air supplied by a climate control system.

Mike Mayock, managing director of Mackoy, said: “The functionality is unparalleled, and our drivers provided us with positive feedback on the usability of the crawlers.

“The Volvos feature fuel-efficient technology which helps us to reduce our emissions and consumption.”
