Fleet news

• Blantyre-based Advance Construction Scotland has purchased a further package of Volvo excavators, with options for more machines later this year. It has added an initial three EC140E excavators, a 1.8-tonne EC18D and a reduced swing ECR88D.

• Veolia’s 22 new waste and recycling collection vehicles for Merton Council promise to be more efficient, safer for residents and environmentally friendly. The vehicles feature two compartments, one for food waste and the other for recyclables, meaning that the size of Veolia’s fleet will be reduced by more than 25% causing less congestion on Merton’s roads.

• CTS Hire is providing eight recycling vehicles to Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council to support its in-house recycling service. The vehicles comprise five Dennis Elite 6 26-tonne 6x4s with Olympus bodies and three Dennis Olympus 21 Elite 26-tonne 6x2 midlifts, all with Terberg OmniDEL bin lifts. All the vehicles are fitted with safety technology such as cyclist safety warning devices.

• Renewi is planning to invest in more than 400 Euro 6 trucks across the Netherlands and Belgium. These more sustainable vehicles will result in a significant improvement in Renewi’s environmental footprint, and the company is optimising collection routes to minimise emissions and reduce the cost per lift.

• The Recycling Partnership in Crawley has purchased three refuse vehicles from Gloucestershire-based Refuse Vehicle Solutions, equipped with bin weighing equipment and installed with new waste management software. The trucks are all Mercedes Econic chassis; two are fitted with Dennis Olympus bodies and Beta 2 trade lifts and one with a Terberg Toploader and Terberg trade lift.
