Buxton-based Lomas Distribution has added more Volvo loading shovels to its fleet as contract crushing demand increases.
Managing director Richard Lomas said: “A number of L220H series loaders supplied in 2016 had been specified for heavy-duty quarry applications with a direct mounted bucket. But the latest cover a range of tasks thanks to the fitting of a hydraulic attachment bracket and third line hydraulics.
“This means they can be used on contract crushing duties, besides being fitted with a high- capacity light materials tipping bucket to load bulkers with woodchips for biomass.”
Significant features of the L220H are Volvo’s 13-litre Stage IV final engine, which develops 373hp in a relatively low rpm range, coupled to its powertrain components.
Other fuel-saving devices such as optishift with torque converter lock up, a reverse by braking feature and the Volvo Eco pedal encourage operators to run the machine at its optimum rpm in the engine’s torque curve.
