Keep metals in the value chain

Brain’s BioXtractor, a mobile tech-scale operation unit for the safe biological extraction of precious metals from waste and side streams, has been shortlisted in two categories in the 2018 Global Game Changers Awards.

The German company’s team of biologists, engineers, process technicians and laboratory assistants look into biological circular economy processes that may help to keep valuable metals in the value chain in the long term.

Micro-organisms which were identified from the company’s BioArchive and further developed in the lab process secondary raw materials such as incinerator bottom ash or electronic scrap and extract precious metals with high yields, depending on the source material and target metal.
