Grundon Waste Management has taken delivery of a Volvo EW240E materials handler for its waste transfer and MRF at Colnbrook, Berkshire. It will handle waste destined for the nearby incinerator or landfill.
While Grundon has operated Volvo equipment before on the aggregate side of its business, this is the first Volvo materials handler the company has purchased. The handler is loading high-sided bulkers and feeding a high-capacity mobile shredder, totalling some 50,000 tonnes a year of waste.
Powered by a six-cylinder Volvo engine developing 171 net hp, the EW240E offers the latest in engine and operations technology. For example, pump flow is controlled for combined equipment and slewing operations to cut flow loss through the overload relief valves, while maintaining lift capacity and maximum swing torque.
Eco-mode improves fuel efficiency without loss of performance in most operating conditions.
The cab offers plenty of leg room and foot space. Its all-round visibility is enhanced by pressurised and filtered cab air supplied by a 14-vent, climate control system. An adjustable LCD colour monitor provides real time information of the machine’s functions.
