Monitor retrofits to EfW boilers to maximise heat output

Food waste specialist Tidy Planet is bringing Spain-based Sugimat’s energy-from-waste intelligent boiler monitoring and control system to the UK.

The Artificial Vision System (AVS) has been designed and engineered to optimise the combustion process.

The camera-driven equipment is located in the biomass system and monitors the fire in the boiler by observing the flame continuously. This helps to regulate air flow, grate movement and fuel feed for maximum heat output and fuel efficiency, as well as reducing emissions.

Tidy Planet director James Tyler, said: “The AVS’s boiler supervision and regulation works to improve the efficiency of non-homogeneous fuels by up to 10% – as well as incrementally reducing emissions and the need for human intervention. This enables companies to generate more energy, reduce labour costs and eliminate wastage from input fuel.”

The technology can be retrofitted to Sugimat’s range of boilers and other brands.

This enables sites with troublesome fuels – where clean and efficient combustion is difficult to achieve – the opportunity to experience significant benefits.
