MRF now operational

The MRF provided by Machinex for Levenseat Renewable Energy’s energy-from-waste (EfW) plant in Lanark, Scotland, is now fully operational. The aim is to achieve a 98% diversion from landfill.

The system is processing 42 tonnes an hour of material, and is designed to produce a minimum of 100,000 tonnes a year of high- quality refuse-derived fuel (RDF) as a feedstock for the adjacent power plant, while also recovering high-value recyclables.

To meet the objectives of the plant, Machinex installed the latest technologies including shredders, a Machinex trommel, air separators, Mach ballistic separators, Mach Hyspec optical sorting units for plastic and paper, a belt dryer and two Machinex single-ram balers.
