Multi-pole magnets can remove smaller items

2000 eriez magnet

The permanent suspended overband magnet is a magnetic separator that is well-established within the Eriez portfolio. It offers a straightforward way to remove tramp iron from conveyor belts – such as steel rebar from crushed concrete at typical operating gaps of 250-350mm.

Eriez Europe has focused on producing higher gradient multi-pole magnet blocks coupled with more compact, lighter weight and streamlined self-cleaning arrangements.

Twin and multi-pole magnet configurations generate much higher gradient magnetic fields than single-pole designs, making them better able to remove smaller items such as nails and washers from feed materials.

These magnets can also lift iron in a horizontal orientation to reduce belt wear. Iron is far less likely to embed in the self-cleaning belt, particularly in the case of small sharp items.

In terms of mechanical structure, Eriez has moved to an internal frame arrangement. Benefits of this include simplified belt change, reduced size and less weight. Weight reduction is a critical factor for many lighter weight crushers and shredders.
