AMCS, the resource management software and on-vehicle technology supplier, has been selected by Spelthorne Borough Council to undertake a route optimisation project across all the borough’s kerbside collection services.
The project is one of the first to utilise AMCS’s Route Optimisation Consultancy Service, which has been shown to deliver reductions of up to 30% in CO2 emissions, mileage and driving time. The ability to increase the productivity of the fleet can also help cut its size by up to 15% and support future fleet planning.
Jackie Taylor, council head of streetscene, said: “The service will enable us to balance round workloads and future-proof the service for new building developments.”
Pat Murray, AMCS’s key account manager, added: “Customers simply provide us with their existing route data, which is then run through the Route Optimiser and returned in a preagreed format ready for upload back in to their operational system.
“There is no need to upload any software or undertake any training and the whole project can be completed in just a few days.”
