PP offers scratch resistance

After extensive lab trials, Luxus’s Hycolene grade 16818 has been selected as RocTool’s preferred high-performance polypropylene (PP) resin for use with its rapid inductive heating technology.

RocTool is pioneering the latest high-gloss effects and 3D textures, producing a finish that is premium and unique for A-class surfaces. It required a PP resin that could offer high scratch performance.

Calypso Beloli, material engineer at RocTool, said: “We are really keen to obtain a quality surface with PP. Scratch resistance on a moulded part has been a challenge but, with the selection of the right compound, together with our induction technology, we can develop new markets.”

Later this year, Hycolene will feature in RocTool’s marketing literature to Tier 1 moulders and manufacturers for the first time, with samples available of specially tailored 3D holographic highdefinition plastics.
