Preventing risk of vehicle rollaway

Flogas Britain, which supplies liquefied petroleum gas and liquefied natural gas, has become the first gas supplier to install Vision Technique’s BrakeSafe on its vehicles, preventing any risk of vehicle roll-away within its tanker fleet.

Fleet manager Steve Moir said: “While we manage our fleet very closely we cannot be there 100% of the time. The potential for vehicle roll-away is something we have acknowledged but, until recently, it was an event that was very difficult to protect ourselves against. With BrakeSafe, we have found a robust and cost-effective way to apply this protection.”

BrakeSafe is said to be the only system on the market that applies the handbrake automatically if a driver forgets to do so when leaving the vehicle, unlike other products which give only a visual and audible warning to the driver.

One of the key features required by Flogas was the ability to link BrakeSafe to its in-cab camera system so it could review footage of any potential rollaway, assist with retraining drivers and in-vestigate incidents more thoroughly.

BrakeSafe requires no interaction from the driver and, under normal circumstances, requires input only once the system has been activated.
