Really free from emissions

2000 mann filter underbody street scooter

Electric vehicles are not completely free from emissions because they release particulates into the atmosphere due to tyre, brake and road abrasion. This is a problem which filtration expert Mann+Hummel has addressed with its fine dust particulate filter.

It is installed on the vehicle’s underbody at the height of the rear axle, which is practical for two reasons: it does not use up valuable loading space and this is where the highest concentration of particulates near to the vehicle is to be found.

The modules will initially be fitted to five test StreetScooter delivery vehicles operated by Deutsche Post DHL Group, and will enter service in five German city centres. The successful conclusion of the test could mean that the StreetScooter is the first series to be almost free of emissions.

The particulate filter operates as an active system. Blowers fitted behind direct ambient air to the filters meaning that, even when the vehicle is at a standstill, it is still able to filter particulates from the ambient air.
