Robot doubles rate of picks per minute

Machinex has launched a sorting robot, the SamurAI.

Featuring four articulations, the machine employs artificial intelligence (AI) technology to identify materials for an accurate, product recovery or a precise quality control function.

The AI operates according to a predetermined task hierarchy to maximise financial return. It continually improves and learns from the operating experience to assure maximum recognition efficiency.

Compared with a human sorter, who achieves an average of 35 picks per minute, the SamurAI reaches an average of 70 picks per minute.

It has been designed to accommodate a conveyor width of up to 48in while offering a modular design for multiple robot configurations.
