Split screener converts waste on-site

Friel Construction is taking sustainability to another level with the delivery of a Terex Finlay 683 Supertrak, a compact and aggressive three-way split mobile screen, which is suitable for a range of applications in the construction, recycling and quarrying sectors.

The plant is proving its worth at a Barratt Homes development in the West Midlands by providing a self-contained means of converting waste from groundworks into high-quality processed materials for reuse on-site.

The machine, supplied to Friel by Finlay Central, is creating valuable products including top-quality NHBCapproved topsoil, along with three or four sizes of gravel and sharp sand for pipe bedding and service mains.

Site manager Brendon Lines said: “I first used a 683 several years ago and I’ve been pushing for one ever since. All the material we process and screen is being used on-site here at Cannock or at other Friel sites in the locality.

“There is no need to haul the material we generate off-site because it is self-contained. And the process makes economic sense as it saves on fuel, haulage and muckaway facilities.”
