Waste management company Mid UK has installed its first vehicle washing system, from Smith Brothers & Webb, at its site in Sleaford, Lincs, to save 45 minutes per vehicle in cleaning time.
The company operates a nationwide fleet of 70 vehicles comprising a mix of 44-tonne artics with walking floors, eight-wheel hook loaders and skip lorries.
Britannia Strong, a three-brush gantry-type washing system, can adjust its brushes to clean rigids, articulated vehicles, draw bar trailers, buses or coaches.
A microprocessor controls brushes to give a gentle but thorough wash, and the horizontal brush control incorporates artic jump, back off, back on and draw bar trailer functions.
Mid UK has had a water reclamation unit fitted to its bespoke model, which can reclaim up to 60% of water used during a wash.
