Wider range of materials shredded

Russell Richardson, a Sheffield-based confidential shredding, archiving and recycling business, is in its 40th year and is splashing out on two ‘birthday’ gifts: a state-of-the-art £165,000 mobile shredding truck and a £30,000 reel splitter.

The mobile shredder is equipped with a device for shredding computer hard drives. It will also tackle three tonnes an hour of paperwork, and destroy CDs, tape drives, memory sticks and mobile phones – all on a client’s premises.

The reel-splitter can chop through vast amounts of printed materials, such as stationery for a high street bank, which is stored on metre-high reels by contract printers and packing companies.
