Electric Concept Vehicle

A first glimpse of the new all-electric eCollect electric RCV by the Terberg RosRoca Group (TRRG) – which includes chassis manufacturer Dennis Eagle, Ros Roca and Terberg Machines – was available at the recent IFAT show in Munich.

The vehicle is expected to go into production towards the end of 2019, and will initially be available to the market in a 26-tonne 6x2 rear steer narrow (2.25m-wide) configuration with left or right-hand drive options, a 19cu m narrow body and automatic split bin lift.

Tim Conlon, TRRG commercial director, said: “The eCollect is the culmination of years of extensive research, development and joint efforts from our subsidiaries, and is the first fully integrated OEM-produced electric RCV.

“Integrated because, uniquely, we are a manufacturer of low-entry chassis, refuse compaction bodies and bin lifting systems.”

The RCV has specifically designed battery packs and control systems: it features 300kWh next-generation batteries, with a 200kW electric motor driving a conventional axle.

Conlon added: “We are confident that the final product will offer our customers a more environmentally friendly RCV and one that will deliver affordable TCO and operation, while delivering zero emission waste collection and transportation.”

The vehicle is currently undergoing technical verifications and extensive trials to ensure it goes to market with fully optimised battery management software.
