First electric trucks in Sweden

fe electric

In April, Volvo Trucks unveiled its first all-electric vehicle for commercial use: the Volvo FL Electric for urban distribution and refuse operations, among other applications. The first trucks from this range have started regular operations with two customers in Gothenburg, Sweden: at refuse collection and recycling company Renova and haulage firm TGM. Series production of the new model starts in Europe in 2019.

Claes Nilsson, president of Volvo Trucks, said: “With this model we are making it possible for cities that aim for sustainable urban development to benefit from the advantages of electrified truck transports.”

Just three weeks after unveiling the FL Electric, the FE Electric was launched – designed for heavier city distribution and refuse transport operations with gross weights of up to 27 tonnes. Again, sales of this vehicle are due to start in Europe in 2019.

The first FE Electric is an RCV with a superstructure developed with truck bodybuilder Faun, and will start operating in early 2019 in the German city of Hamburg. It already uses Volvo electrified buses in its public transport network.
