A worker has died at a Viridor MRF in Buckinghamshire.
The company confirmed that the 42-year-old employee, who has not yet been named, was killed in an incident at the company’s facility in Milton Keynes on 8 August.
Thames Valley Police said it receved a report of an “unexplained death” at the site on Colts Holm Road, Old Wolverton, shortly before 5.30pm.
Officers and the ambulance service attended the scene where the man was found deceased.
The police said the death was being treated as unexplained but not believed to be suspicious. A file was being prepared for the coroner’s office in Milton Keynes, which will open an inquiry on 11 August.
Viridor chief executive Ian McAulay said: “The entire Viridor team is deeply saddened to hear of the death of our colleague.
“Our thoughts are with him, his family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time.”
The company said it was working closely with the relevant authorities who will conduct a full investigation into the incident.
The Health and Safety Executive and the man’s family have been informed, and counselling support is being offered to colleagues at the site.
