North Wales Police has confirmed that an employee of Recycle Cymru has died in an incident, reportedly involving machinery.
Emergency services were called out on the evening of 30 November to an incident at the company, located at the Tir Llwyd Industrial Estate, Kinmel Bay in Conwy.
The Welsh Ambulance Service sent two paramedics and a member of the special operations response team. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detective chief inspector Neil Harrison of North Wales Police said: “I can confirm that we are investigating an incident at Recycle Cymru. We are liaising with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the man’s family have been informed.”
An HSE spokesperson said: “We are aware of the incident and are assisting North Wales Police with their enquiries.”
According to reports, company director Stephen Jones said he was “absolutely devastated and shocked”.
He told reporters: “He had been working for us for about three months and he loved the job. He was a fantastic guy.
“My feelings go out to his immediate family. We are working with the authorities to find out what happened.”
