Man dies at recycling site after collision

A man in his 30s has died at the FDS Waste Services site in Dorset and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Police said they were called at 11.30am on 13 December to reports of an industrial incident at the site in Mannings Heath Road, Poole.

They said the man had sustained serious injuries and, although the ambulance service was called, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A joint investigation is being carried out by Dorset Police and the Health and Safety Executive.

A bystander told the local paper, the Daily Echo, that the accident involved a vehicle and the man suffered crush injuries. The paper also reported that the scene was attended by a police collision investigation vehicle but this was neither confirmed nor denied by Dorset Police.

FDS Waste Services describes itself as a specialist in recycling “for all aspects” of commercial and domestic waste. The company was unavailable for comment.
