Renewi sells loss-making plant

Renewi has sold its Westcott Park anaerobic digestion facility to Olleco, the renewables division of ABP Food Group.

It described Westcott as “non-core” and “loss-making”. The sale price has not been disclosed.

Renewi said that under Olleco, Westcott Park would become part of a network of plants in the food service sector which work in a closed loop operation serving 50,000 customer sites. All employees affected will transfer to Olleco.

Renewi managing director James Priestley said: “The sale of our Westcott Park facility is completely in line with our strategy to actively manage our municipal portfolio.

“We are taking decisive action to improve the performance of the division and this demonstrates we are delivering against that recovery plan.”

Renewi was created in 2017 by the merger of Shanks Group and Van Gansewinkel Groep.
