Smart Solutions has sold its training and development arm to Sigma Group Holdings after a decade of expansion.
The two companies have agreed a partnership by which Smart Solutions will provide access to training and work-based learning schemes, delivered by Sigma.
Current members of staff from Smart Development, thought to be more than 40, will be able to transfer with the business.
Established in 2007, Smart Solutions provides around 5,500 agency workers and related services for industries across the UK, including the waste sector.
The company is based in Langstone, Newport, with 52 locations across the UK and employs more than 200 full time staff. Sigma is based in Coventry.
Smart Solutions chief executive and founder Nathan Bowles (pictured), a former MRW columnist, said it was the right decision for Smart Solutions, allowing it to focus on its core business of providing staff solutions for clients.
“Smart Solutions clients will benefit from the increased variety and coverage of training services that we will be able to offer through the new partnership with Sigma, which will also underpin our strategy of expanding the business into new industry sectors.
“We will be working closely with the team at Sigma to ensure that the transfer of staff and learners is managed as seamlessly as possible, and look forward to developing our working relationship over the months and years to come.”
Brendan Hand, chief executive of Sigma Group Holdings, said: “Sigma has been working on developing a strategic partnership with Smart Solutions for some months now, and it was a natural fit to our business to integrate the Smart Development team, products, services and customers into our business.
”This will increase the level of service we can deliver to both our existing and new blue-chip customer base.”
