Regulators have cleared Tradebe’s acquisition of Avanti Environmental Group from Stericycle.
The deal had been put on hold in September when the Competition & Markets Authority intervened with an enforcement order following concerns that the merger would reduce competition.
It has now said that, while its assessment of the deal is continuing, it “nevertheless considers that, based on the evidence it has received in its assessment of the transaction to date, it is appropriate to revoke the initial enforcement order”.
A Tradebe statement said: “We are delighted to receive the news that the CMA has cleared the acquisition of Avanti Environmental Group.
“We strongly believe that the integration of Tradebe and Avanti Environmental will deliver real benefits and drive high standards for customers and the market.”
Avanti operates treatment and transfer sites in England and Scotland, owns a fleet of vehicles and employs more than 140 people. It runs specialist services for the laboratory and automotive markets and a plastics recycling division.
