Veolia backs community recycling efforts

Veolia has launched a £50,000 fund to support grassroots recycling projects in London.

The Recycling Fund for Communities offers up to £1,000 towards the cost of equipment, materials and volunteers.

Veolia says applications from projects that inspire people to do the right thing with their waste, make use of recycled or reused materials or help to protect the local environment will be considered.

The scheme is being managed via community website SpaceHive.

Elsie Grace, project manager for Veolia London, said: “Veolia is working with councils, businesses and communities all over London to help preserve resources and create a more sustainable future.

“We want people to think about materials and waste and, if they do that, they could get a boost from us.”

The deadline for the first round of funding is 30 April. Visit
