Viridor in £89m contract win

Suffolk County Council has awarded Viridor an £88.75m contact for handling its mixed dry recyclate.

The renewed 10-year contract starts in May and covers sorting at the Masons MRF, near Ipswich, and marketing of the material by Viridor.

Viridor head of local authority development Simon Prior said the company had worked with Suffolk councils for more than 20 years: “We look forward to building on this work and advancing our shared goals of helping residents understand and make the most of their efforts in recycling.”

The Masons facility processes over 55,000 tonnes a year of dry mixed recyclates collected by Suffolk councils.

Earlier this month FCC Environment won the contract to operate 11 recycling centres for Suffolk County Council.
