The Environment Agency (EA) has partially suspended the environmental permit of a Derbyshire waste firm after the company failed to comply with conditions.
Lindrick Project Management runs a waste transfer facility on Mansfield Road, Corbriggs, Chesterfield, where, according to the EA, it accepted unpermitted waste and stored waste outside, in breach of permit conditions requiring waste to be stored within a building.
This posed an increased risk of fire, dust and odour nuisance, the EA said.
The agency issued Lindrick with a suspension notice on 21 November, preventing it from bringing any more waste of any type on to its site.
It also requires the company to remove all non-permitted waste from the site before 21 December.
An EA spokesperson said: “The company has continued to store waste inappropriately on its premises, giving rise to dust and odour in the local vicinity, and it must now take action to comply with permit conditions.
“Until this happens we will not allow them to bring any more waste on to the site. We will monitor the company’s progress closely over the coming weeks.”
